Ellie and Aidan’s August wedding at Moat Hall Barns was a super fun day to photograph, as they planned some great activities for their guests to enjoy. This lovely couple met at university and are both keen on sports, so they decided to host their own “wedlympics” on the grassy paddock at Moat Hall, with guests competing in a range of events throughout the day, and prizes awarded in the late afternoon. Despite the drizzle of the morning, the sun soon came out to allow Ellie, Aidan and their guests to enjoy being outside after their ceremony upstairs in the barn’s lovely mezzanine Hayloft area.
Aidan and Ellie embraced Moat Hall’s rustic vibes and chose to decorate the venue with hessian and cream bunting, and dried flowers and grasses which were a lovely complement to the oak beams and vintage brickwork. The wedding cake and cupcakes had been beautifully hand-painted with lavender sprigs by bride Ellie, which brought a personal touch that I loved. I also really liked that the tables were each named after Disney sidekicks! As Moat Hall is a dry-hire venue the couple opted to provide their own help-yourself drinks bar plus an ice-cream sundae bar with lots of fun toppings to choose from - I’m a big fan of this idea! In the evening the sky turned some absolutely lovely colours, perfect for grabbing a quick silhoutette shot and a gorgeous way to end a relaxed, entertaining celebration.
It was great to second shoot for the wonderful Nikki Cooper Photography on this occasion.
