Moat Hall Barns is one of my favourite local venues, located just a few miles outside Shrewsbury in the picturesque village of Annscroft, surrounded by the stunning Shropshire countryside. The Grade II-listed Top Barn has been lovingly restored by owners Amy and Ben, and sits on Amy's family farm, which has been in the family for over eighty years. Throughout the restoration, Amy and Ben have placed a strong emphasis on sustainable and environmentally friendly practices, and they offer exceptional wedding coordination services to ensure your day runs seamlessly. Moat Hall Barns is available for both weekend and mid-week weddings, with each booking spanning three days to give couples ample time to prepare and enjoy the festivities.
As a dry-hire venue, couples have the freedom to style the barn to their own taste, though the venue’s natural rustic charm—with exposed brick, sturdy oak beams, and sparkling fairy lights—means you don’t need much décor to create a stunning atmosphere. A new addition to the barn is the cosy mezzanine-level Hayloft, which provides a charming setting for indoor ceremonies. For outdoor weddings, the Lakeside gazebo offers a tranquil space to exchange vows, while the Covered Yard offers a sheltered outdoor option, adorned with fairy lights—perfect for unpredictable weather or larger guest lists that may exceed the Hayloft’s capacity. The Covered Yard is also an excellent space for setting up bars, street food trucks, or even fun games.
The wide grassy Paddock offers plenty of room for lawn games, as well as space for camping, tipis, and bouncy castles—you can truly make the venue your own. And did I mention that dogs are welcome?
As you stroll through the farmyard, you may encounter chickens, peacocks, or guineafowl, and the Moat Hall cats are always popping by for a friendly hello. Sheep and cows are often seen grazing in the nearby fields, providing fantastic views across the countryside. Couples are also invited to use the farmhouse’s beautifully maintained garden for photographs among the vibrant flower beds. The colourful dahlias are a favourite spot of mine for couples’ portraits, along with the wooden jetty by the lake.
I’d love to hear from you if you are planning a Moat Hall Barns wedding! Please get in touch and let’s chat about how I can capture the moments of your big day.
