Gina and Chris had the most gorgeous, action-packed day at Cheshire Woodland Weddings, an amazing venue tucked away in Blakemere Village, near Northwich in Cheshire. I am a huge woodland fan, and this lovely pair had their ceremony in a beautiful little clearing in the woodland that just oozed rustic charm, with fairy lights strung between the branches and tiny toadstools peeping out from the forest floor.
After saying “I do” Chris and Gina were not just showered, but absolutely pelted with white tissue paper confetti - the most confetti I have seen at a wedding to date! The air was so full of confetti that at one point I lost sight of the couple - it was like they had stepped into a snowstorm! This was insanely fun to capture!
After the guests had had time to congratulate the couple and enjoy welcome drinks and delicious canapes in the warm September sun, they were invited by the venue staff to enjoy the activities on offer that make this venue so unique. Guests could choose from archery, shooting, a segway course, ropes course, mini-golf and the more traditional lawn games such as croquet, while lead photographer Josie whisked Gina and Chris away for family group photos and some couples portraits. Just before sitting down for their wedding breakfast the whole group enjoyed a fantastic falconry show, with active roles played by the groomsmen, an apprehensive Gina and a slightly more confident Chris as they had close encounters with stunning white-tailed eagle Arran.
The barn had been beautifully decorated with a fabulous bespoke backdrop proclaiming the married couple’s surname, and long trestle tables adorned with wildflowers and candles. Following speeches and dinner, we took the couple out for a few golden hour shots, and they took a surprise ride on a Ferris wheel in a nearby travelling funfair for a memorable wedding day experience, before returning to their guests to dance the night away. A special mention here to Gina’s very clever dress design, which featured drop-shoulder sleeves during the day but somehow magically tied back with a ribbon to make a strapless dress for the evening - wizardry!
I absolutely loved shooting at this venue and would love to make a return visit - please pass the message on if you know of anyone looking to get married at Cheshire Woodland Weddings! I’m in!
It was a huge pleasure to second shoot for the lovely Josie from Folk and Film Weddings (www.folkandfilm.co.uk), working alongside fab videographer Jade at Sincerely Yours Films (sincerelyyoursfilms.co.uk)
