Alice and Scott’s late December wedding at Davenport House in Worfield, Shropshire, was full of Christmas sparkle, from the stunning tree in the Great Hall, to the sumptuously decorated reception tables in the Dining Room, and the shimmering bodice of Alice’s beautiful gown! Davenport House is always a beautiful venue for a wedding but it was looking especially magnificent on this occasion!
Despite the deep fog blanketing the morning, this was a day full of cheer, starting with Scott and his eight groomsmen having a quick pre-ceremony drink in the Saloon before welcoming guests. Some of the charming personal touches included a witty poem about the couple read as part of their Great Hall ceremony, beautiful ribbon-and-bauble pew end decorations crafted by the bride’s mother to adorn the aisle, and a cake that had been lovingly made by the groom’s aunt. The house had been decorated for the festive season by the talented Ginger Lily florist team, who had created stunning mantle arrangements, a gorgeous wreath for the front door, and bauble-festooned foliage winding up the staircase, and this was enhanced by the opulent table decor for the Drawing Room, designed by Lily Fee Floral Designs to complement Alice’s bridal bouquet, which included tiny gold baubles and sparkly grasses to enhance the Christmassy vibe.
Alice and Scott’s reception was candle-lit and very atmospheric as the daylight faded into evening! After dinner and speeches, the day wrapped up with some of the most exuberant dancing I have seen at a wedding this year, to the live music provided by The Distractions, who really set a party mood and prompted the young ring bearer to go into air guitar mode with a lightstick (the same lightstick that was used much later on in the evening for a lively dancefloor limbo session).
